Ugly love by Colleen Hoover.

Stars: More than 5

Recommended? Hell, yeah!

This was such a beautiful book, so brace yourselves for a long review.

This was one of those books where the title is so apt and its meaning is so beautiful, but you don’t find it out right away, only towards the end, and when the meaning finally hits you, you can’t help but go “ohhhhhhhh”.

Tate is studying to be a nurse, and working on the weekends. She has just moved in with her brother Corbin, and there’s a totally edible boy who lives across the hall. His name is Miles. He and Corbin are pilots. Mikes and Tate are attracted to each other, but do everything not to act on it. He is closed off and guarded. Until, one day, when he finally kisses her. He tells her that he just wants sex, that he can’t give her more. She agrees, even though she knows that this will not end well. She can’t help but hope that eventually he might change his mind.

But, months pass and nothing changes. He becomes more closed off than ever. He keeps hurting her, and she keeps letting him. He has two rules, never ask about his past, and never expect a future. Something bad happened to him. Something so bad that he thinks he isn’t capable of loving anyone anymore.

This book alternated between Tate’s and Miles’ POV. Tate’s, from the present. And Miles’, from six years ago. He was eighteen when he fell in love with Rachel. She became pregnant and they had a baby boy. He wasn’t even two days old when their car drowns in a lake, and the boy is killed. He wasn’t able to save him. Rachel leaves him saying she is sorry and can’t do this anymore and that she doesn’t want to blame him, but she can’t help it. He is completely ruined, because he ruined her life and their son’s. He has convinced himself that love is not worth it. That the beautiful parts aren’t worth the “ugly love”.

Then, he meets Tate and everything changes. He keeps telling himself he can’t fall in love with her. But, he does. He finally gathers the courage to tell her everything. He finally realizes that the beautiful parts ARE worth the “ugly love”.

This was such a beautiful book, I wanted to climb inside this book and live there. Not only was the story beautiful, the way she phrased the sentences just took my breath away. I HAD to finish this in less than one day, even though my exams are starting tomorrow, because I JUST COULDN’T PUT IT DOWN! It is books like these that remind me why I love reading so much.

She’s like my favorite author in the whole wide world*beams*
I have read all books she’s written apart from the never never series, as I’m waiting for it to finish. Coz I loath cliffhanger endings🙈
    Anyway, great review 😀
This one’s my third favorite CoHo💜

  5. It does seem to contain every woman’s dream… an attractive, young, successfull man who just can’t resist falling for the woman, whom the reader identifies with, no matter how hard he tries. But since that never works for me, I am currently hating every mysterious bastard who continues exploiting this weak spot of the female heart
