Underneath the starry sky

A lone wolf

Howls at the full moon

Its cries, hauntingly familiar

And, oh-so-heartbreaking.

From behind a tree

Another wolf watches

The lone wolf howling

With melancholic eyes

For, it knows the pain

Of yearning for a love

It can never touch.

P.S. Inspired from this quote: Maybe the wolf is in love with the moon, and every month it cries for a love it will never touch.

      1. You’re so welcome! And I want to give those books another read very soon. I’ve read them through I think three times already but it’s been a few years. It’s all the quotes and random bursts of humour that I love so much. That, and they way she uses the really old folklore instead the typical.

  8. Diana, or Artemis – goddess of the the moon has often been pictured as someone that would hang out with wolves. They miss her.. I like the twist at the end of the poem. 🙂

        My name’s real common,but I have never had someone with the same name in my class or anything, ever. But almost every friend of mine knows someone by my name. 😛
