To N, its been 13 years since you walked through that door in that orange dress, and I still can’t imagine finding someone I’d love more
She wore sorrow, wrapped around her like a blanket
And a crown, made of heartache.
She wore clothes made of fine threads
That had been weaved from grief
And she wore anguish, in a
Necklace around her neck.
She wore shoes that were fashioned with fear
And bracelets dipped in unhappiness.
She wore her insecurities, in a
Scarf around her neck
And loneliness, in a belt around her waist.
She was a crazy kind of brave, wearing
All her imperfections on the outside
For everyone to see.
No one could break her, for
She wore pain, with grace that would
Put a ballerina to shame.
-The Girl Lost In The Bookstore
That’s a nice poem, although I feel a little sorry for the subject of it. It sounds like she’d had a hard life, even if she wore it well.

A lovely poem while racing over all those “flaws” that would usually drown a poem in somberness. The ending is wonderfully intriguing with image of ballerina with that of someone bundled up with so much clothing: begging the question what is grace.
Also just as I pondering the ending, an instrumental version of Cohen’s “Hallelujah” was playing in the background, and it made me linger on “No one could break her…” How we, in the general sense, so often seek out those flaws in others, even the ones we care for, and try to “break” them through digging down to those flaws.
“But all I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya”
~ Leonard Cohen, “Hallelujah”

Thank you. π I think our flaws make us who we are, and if you accept them, then nobody can use them against you.

It’s easy to wear joy, but to wear pain with grace – well, that is very special. A very evocative image.

This poem is awesome and wonderful. You described the person so well that it hurt me in my soul. Because it’s so sad. And so hopefully at the same time. I can’t find words but just saying it’s wonderful and heartbreaking isn’t enough. So this is impossible to tell. But I know that there are so many feelings in it. Bye
P.S. I love your writing.

Thank you so much. Means a lot to me. π And, I wanted to portray a woman who is so broken, but at the same time, she wears it well, and that is exactly why you can’t break her anymore. Glad you liked it. π

I really did like it because she reminds me a bit of someone I know very well. A bit of myself too. But that’s another story.
I find it so fascinating how you created a person that is so meaningful. Have a nice day. Bye

Dear Miss Book Thief,
Thank you so much for this comment. I’m trying to be brave but sometimes I fail miserably. But that’s okay. “The point isn’t about being fearless, that’s impossible, it’s about learning how to control them.” Little Question: From where is that quote from? Little hint, in one of my favourite book series. It was described in my third post. Do you find it out? I think you’re really brave too. And I think you’re nice. Bye

I have heard that quote before, but I can’t seem to recall where it’s from. And, it’s true. You are brave. Believe in yourself. π

I’ve read the series. I loved the first part. And, then one of my friends had to go and tell me that the girl dies in the end. It sort of ruined the other books for me. π

This is bad. Yep. I had the luck that no one told me. But it kind of freaked me out in the end because I didn’t expect it. I was like, noo that can’t be true I read that part a second time and it was true. I cried till I was finished and a bit more. π
But I loved the last sentence. It was beautiful. Here it is :”We can be mended, we mend each other.” Yep. Told you. Okay maybe I sound stupid. But I don’t really care. So okay bye.
