Underneath the starry sky
A lone wolf
Howls at the full moon
Its cries, hauntingly familiar
And, oh-so-heartbreaking.
–
From behind a tree
Another wolf watches
The lone wolf howling
With melancholic eyes
For, it knows the pain
Of yearning for a love
It can never touch.
-The Girl Lost In The Bookstore
P.S. Inspired from this quote: Maybe the wolf is in love with the moon, and every month it cries for a love it will never touch.
π Thats quite an imagination! well done

Ever read the Maggie Stiefvater books? This made me think of them. Also, I nominated you for Sisterhood of the World Award-https://septembersrose.wordpress.com/2016/01/02/sisterhood-of-the-world-award/

You’re so welcome! And I want to give those books another read very soon. I’ve read them through I think three times already but it’s been a few years. It’s all the quotes and random bursts of humour that I love so much. That, and they way she uses the really old folklore instead the typical.

Yessss! I love the quotes in that book. π I remember this particular one. “I could see storms destroying small villages in her eyes.”

I remember a funny one- “Life was like a cake that looked good on the bakery shelf but turned to sawdust and salt when I ate it.”

Grant it, that’s not a quote within the book but an actual thought from the character

Diana, or Artemis – goddess of the the moon has often been pictured as someone that would hang out with wolves. They miss her.. I like the twist at the end of the poem. π
