I search for words
In the front pockets
Of your unbuttoned denims
Hanging just behind the door,
And in the fragrance of the flowers
That will decorate
Your graveyard someday.
*
I search for words
Underneath the dust
That decorates the frame
Of our photograph,
And in the glass that thickens
At the bottom of the windowpane
Over time,
As if all the raindrops
Falling against it
Make it swell with emotion.
*
Why, why do you need words,
They ask me.
Write a poem
With the language of the seas
A poem that rips and tides
And crashes violently
Against the walls of your heart.
*
A poem, inside which,
You can hear the echoes
Of the songs the humpback whale sings
While searching for its other half.
*
So, I write to you,
From the deepest blue of the sea.
My words are spilling over,
Won’t you come take a dip?

Beautiful. Love that end line “won’t you come and take a dip?” A bit of a whimsical question in a pie, that has a very sad poem, a mourning for the speaker’s dead love. I hope he takes a dip, but then death is a barrier to that.

“Your graveyard somebody” or some day? Hi, I am the pedantic poet. š
Lovely words though, and this ocean of words is worth much more than a dip. š

Once in a while, you read something where you have actually have to lean back and then try and take every word in.
This was one piece where I found myself doing it. Yes, that great.
