I think this post is pretty much self-explanatory. I have OCD. It’s self-diagnosed, of course!
I had been having doubts for a while about my OCD. So, one day, I decided to look up the symptoms on the internet. I know what you’re thinking. Is she crazy? Everybody knows you never, ever go on the internet for a self-diagnosis! That’s like the first rule of the internet. Wait, is it? Well, if it isn’t, it should be!
So. I looked up the symptoms. And surprise, surprise, I had OCD. I was thinking about how to break this gently to my mother. And, I just blurted it out of course! And, it pretty much went like this:
Me: Mom, I have OCD.
That’s it. Not even an I-have-to-tell-you-something. Just straight out blurting.
Mom: Oh.
Me: That’s it? That’s all you have to say?! Mom: And you know you have OCD because?
Me: I looked it up on the internet, of course!
Mom: *nods head in an understanding way* Ah.
Me: Do you not realize how serious this is? I could become Sheldon. Or worse- horrified expression- Adrian Monk!
(Yes, my mom watches all the TV shows I watch, too. And, for those of you who don’t know who Monk is, he is an extremely brilliant detective who has OCD. That guy has MAJOR issues!)
Mom: If you become Monk, I’m not taking care of you, young lady!
Me: *stands there with hands on hips and an indignant expression*
Well, that’s just amazing!
I may have exaggerated a teeny tiny bit, but let’s not go into that. *sheepish expression*
And then, I proceeded to look into it a bit more. And, turns out, OCD is not psychological, but rather, biological. Well, it’s good to know that at least I’m not crazy. Although, that’s still debatable.
But, seriously guys. I do have OCD. I mean, do you not see the period at the end of each of my titles? But, don’t worry, it’s still self-diagnosed.

Oh come on, not here too π¦
My wife used to watch Monk and then look at me meaningfully and smirk.. ok, he overdoes it a bit (A bit??? Quite a lot, actually). But it is not like everything he does is weird… and I do not have OCD…
(Reminds me of the time my ex-classmate, fresh from his pompous medical college training tried it out on me.. “So have you become an alcoholic now?” and I go blank and say, er.. no.. to which he chortles with delight at his own stupid joke… “Hahaha.. that is the first sign of alcoholism… Denial” .. well, bleh… try as I might I could not come up with an equivalent computer joke to give him an engg taste).
I do not have OCD and my wife narrows her eyes and agrees, “No, you are just plain weird/insane”.
And you do not have OCD either π

Hahaha. Oh, believe me, I do though! One of my friends said, and I quote, that its pretty cool that I have OCD. -_-

On a serious note, OCD happens to be a rather debilitating illness. Even though it looks funny at times, it really can be quite destructive. For example, I used to catch myself doing weird things walking on patterned tiles – skip the exact number of tiles and feel frustrated if the end tile did not match or there was no end tile. (Like I said, I was serious, I do not have OCD, but it showed me how easy it is to fall prey to it). Or, at other times, I would follow a chess move, like moving like a knight, always a three-tile L so that my next step follows the exact pattern. It is not that it is just embarrassing, but could be pretty dangerous too if you are completely absorbed in it.
My mother, for example, would always clean her comb with a needle of a toothpick, even if it was perfectly clean. This repetitive behaviour then gets ingrained in you. It took my continuous haranguing to get her to stop it. So, yes, while it is funny and almost “cool” as your friend said π it still is quite a nuisance..
That said, I am being the grumpy curmudgeon here to rain on your parade π Not so.. it was fun reading it, as always… good one..
And NO, you do not have OCD hehehe..

Hahaha. I do things like that, too. Like, I always HAVE to walk on the left side of a person, or it keeps bothering me. Little things like that. I’m trying to get over it, though. π And, thank you. π

Oh darn!! Yes, that too.. but not on the left, the person has always got to be on my left side.
And you still haven’t got OCD π

I don’t know why,I could somehow feel Sharona’s character alot more.I guess she was alot less submissive and bold unlike Natalie. But I really like how both of them were strong single mothers.Such a concept would never exist in Indian sitcoms.
The very idea of an independent woman, managing her child was pretty motivating to me.
And I think it was more of Sharona’s accent that I liked π

Yes, that is true. Both of them were pretty amazing. And I always wondered why Natalie keeps calling him Mr. Monk instead of Adrian. And I really liked the way the both of them took care of him. π

Yeah,Sharona sorta acted more like an equal.
Sharona being a nurse was very patient and trained, but poor Natalie π I still wonder if she got her paychecks π

If I believe what the internet says, I would probably be having a dozen diseases by now. π Though I am quite sure about ADHD… π And you watch all those TV series with your mum…Quite a cool mom you have. π I have to minimize the screen every time my mom or dad walks in while watching a series. Most of the times they find me staring at the wallpaper… but they never say anything. I wonder what they think about me. π
